Job Responsibilities:
- Conducting legal research: Law clerks are expected to perform comprehensive legal research to assist judges in making informed decisions on criminal cases.
- Reviewing applications for writs of habeas corpus: Clerks analyze and review applications for writs of habeas corpus to determine their validity and merit.
- Reviewing petitions for discretionary review: Clerks evaluate petitions for discretionary review to assess whether they should be granted.
- Preparing for oral argument: Law clerks assist in the preparation for oral arguments by compiling relevant information and organizing case materials.
- Drafting opinions: Clerks are responsible for drafting legal opinions, which require excellent writing skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrating interest and ability in criminal and appellate law: Preference is given to candidates who have shown a keen interest and effective capabilities in criminal and appellate law.
Education and Experience Information:
- Eligible candidates include all law students who will have completed their legal studies by the commencement of the clerkship, as well as licensed attorneys.
- Candidates should demonstrate an ability to research and write effectively, with a strong preference for those interested in criminal and appellate law.
Salary Information:
- The annual salary for a law clerk is approximately $74,502.

- The clerkship is a one-year term beginning on September 1.
