The Summer Legal Internship is a 10-week, full-time program running from May through August, organized by the #***# within the Criminal Bureau. The program is tailored for law students, offering them a comprehensive experience in legal research, writing, and observation of legal proceedings. Interns have the opportunity to attend meetings and engage in various departmental activities, gaining exposure to the workings of the Attorney General's office.
Interns are assigned to a specific bureau, such as Criminal, Civil, Environmental, Consumer, Public Safety and Infrastructure, or Charitable, based on their stated preferences and areas of interest. Although the positions are unpaid, many participants can receive course credit or scholarships through their law schools.
The application process requires submission of a résumé, writing sample, list of references, and a cover letter detailing areas of interest and bureau preference. Applications should be sent to the Legal Intern Coordinator via email. Selected candidates will be contacted for interviews, which are conducted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. All applicants will undergo a background investigation.
