#***# (LASMTC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free legal services to low-income and vulnerable individuals. Our mission is to protect the legal rights of those in need and secure the basic necessities of life for them. With 8 offices serving 48 counties in Tennessee, we focus on 5 main areas of law: Family/Immigration, Health & Benefits, Consumer/Tax, Housing/Home Retention, and Employment.
We are currently offering legal internship opportunities for law students enrolled in accredited programs. Our internships are available during the spring, summer, and fall terms. The purpose of these internships is to provide hands-on experience in our organization's daily operations, alongside our attorneys and staff. We welcome fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and genuine enthusiasm for non-profit work.
Paid internships are available to attract a diverse pool of talented and motivated law students who share our commitment to public interest law. Our paid internships acknowledge the potential for unpaid internships to create and exacerbate racial and economic disparities and strive to provide equal opportunities for all. Unpaid internships are also available for those seeking academic credit or experience.
Qualifications for our legal internships include enrollment in an accredited law program, a strong dedication to public interest law, excellent research and writing skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications. Knowledge of foreign languages is a plus.
