Job Title: Summer Legal Internship
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with legal research and writing within the assigned bureau of the #***#.
- Observe various legal proceedings to gain practical insight into legal processes.
- Attend meetings related to the legal functions of the department.
- Participate in a variety of activities within the department to gain comprehensive exposure to legal work.
- Support the specific bureau's functions, which may include areas such as Criminal, Civil, Environmental, Consumer, Public Safety and Infrastructure, or Charitable law.
Education and Experience Information:
- The program is designed for students currently enrolled in law school.
- Applicants should be interested in gaining practical legal experience and exposure to the workings of a state Attorney General's office.
- Students are required to submit a résumé, writing sample, list of references, and a cover letter indicating areas of interest, preferred bureau, and availability.
Salary Information:
- The positions are unpaid. However, many students may be eligible to receive course credit or scholarships from their respective law schools.
Additional Information:
- The Summer Legal Intern Program is a 10-week, full-time commitment running from May through August.
- Interns will be assigned to a specific bureau within the office, providing focused experience in a particular area of law.
- Applicants are required to undergo a background investigation as part of the selection process.
- Selection for interviews is conducted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
