Job Title: Summer Legal Internship
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with legal research and writing tasks to support the bureau’s activities.
- Observe legal proceedings to gain insight into the legal process.
- Attend meetings to understand the functioning and responsibilities of the department.
- Participate in a variety of activities within the department to gain practical experience.
- Interns are assigned to a specific bureau, such as Criminal, Civil, Environmental, Consumer, Public Safety and Infrastructure, or Charitable, to focus their learning and contributions.
Education and Experience Information:
- The program is designed for students currently enrolled in law school.
- Students interested in applying should submit a résumé, writing sample, list of references, and a cover letter stating areas of interest, preferred bureau, and availability.
Salary Information:
- Positions are unpaid; however, many students may be eligible to receive course credit or scholarships from their respective law schools.
Additional Information:
- The Summer Legal Intern Program is a 10-week, full-time program running from May through August.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation.
- Interviews occur on a rolling basis until all available positions are filled.
- The program offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various legal fields under the guidance of the State of New Hampshire’s Office of the Attorney General.
- Interns will work under the supervision of the Attorney General, who is the chief legal officer and law enforcement officer for the State of New Hampshire, representing the state in civil and criminal cases and advising the Governor and state agencies.
