Legal Internship Opportunities at Legal Aid Society - Gain Valuable Experience and Make a Difference in Your Community
Legal Aid Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free legal services to low-income and vulnerable individuals, is currently seeking law students to join our legal internship program. With 8 offices serving 48 counties in Tennessee, we are committed to advancing, defending, and enforcing the legal rights of those in need. We specialize in 5 main areas of law practice, including Family/Immigration, Health & Benefits, Consumer/Tax, Housing/Home Retention, and Employment.

Our internships are available during the spring, summer, and fall terms, and offer valuable hands-on experiences working alongside our attorneys and staff. We also offer paid internships to attract a diverse pool of talented and motivated law students who share our mission.
Paid Internships: Making a Difference While Earning a Fair Wage
At Legal Aid Society, we recognize the impact of unpaid internships on creating and further exacerbating racial and economic disparities. We are committed to promoting equal representation within our pool of applicants and have established a paid internship program for law students interested in pursuing a career in public interest law. Our paid internships not only provide valuable experience but also offer a fair wage to support our interns while they make a difference in their communities.
Unpaid Internships: Gain Experience and Academic Credit
We also offer unpaid internships for students who are looking to gain experience and/or academic credit. These interns are unpaid volunteers who work alongside our attorneys and staff to provide valuable legal services to those in need.
Qualifications: Join our Team of Dedicated and Skilled Legal Professionals
To be eligible for our legal internships, candidates must be enrolled in an accredited law program and have a strong dedication to public interest law, as evidenced by relevant experience and coursework. We are looking for candidates with excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in MS Office applications. Knowledge of foreign languages is considered a beneficial asset, but not mandatory.
