Job Responsibilities:
The Summer Internship Program is part of the Student Legal Internship Program conducted by the organization. Interns in this program will have the opportunity to:
- Gain real courtroom experience in a hands-on setting.
- Observe and take part in motion practice, contested hearings, and trials.
- Assist with case review, investigation, and trial preparation.
- Talk to witnesses and crime victims about ongoing cases.
Education and Experience Information:
Internships are limited to law students who are in their 2L or 3L year or who are law school post?graduates. Preference will be given to students who are eligible for a Temporary Trial Card through the Texas Bar Association. The internship is unpaid, and any interns accepted into the program are subject to background checks and other security measures. If the internship is being done for school credit, the organization will work with the intern's law school to accommodate academic requirements.

The organization represents the State of Texas and Williamson County in a wide range of legal matters, employing attorneys, investigators, and staff members who practice criminal law, juvenile law, family law, and civil law in various courts in Williamson County, Texas.
Application Deadlines:
The organization has two intern induction periods, one for the summer and one for the fall. For summer internships (May - August), applications must be received by April 30th. For fall internships (August - November), applications must be submitted by July 15th. Special circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis if these time periods do not work for potential interns.

Applicants are required to submit their applications via email. The internship program requires applicants to undergo a background check and authorize the release of information for this purpose. Failure to pass the background investigation or providing falsified or omitted information may result in termination from the internship program.
Legal and Compliance Information:
As part of the application process, candidates must provide true and correct information and authorize the release of all information concerning them, including confidential or privileged information, as required by the organization's background investigator. The authorization expires one year after the date signed. Candidates understand that passing a background investigation is a prerequisite for consideration for the internship position.
