Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research to support the Court's decisions and opinions.
- Review applications for writs of habeas corpus, assessing their validity and relevance.
- Examine petitions for discretionary review to determine their merit.
- Prepare for oral arguments by gathering necessary legal information and case details.
- Draft opinions that reflect the Court's judgments and legal reasoning.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in criminal and appellate law.
- Exhibit effective research and writing skills to contribute to the Court's work.
Education and Experience Information:
- Open to all law students who will have completed their legal studies by the beginning of the clerkship term.
- Licensed attorneys are also eligible to apply.
- Preference for candidates with a demonstrated ability to research and write effectively, particularly in criminal and appellate law.
Salary Information:
- The annual salary for a law clerk is approximately $74,502.
