Job Title: Summer Legal Internship
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Intern positions provide students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the legal field. Interns are responsible for:
- Researching legal issues relevant to the cases handled by the organization.
- Writing memoranda of findings, legal briefs, and motions.
- Observing federal court proceedings to gain practical insights into the legal process.
- Working under the supervision of experienced attorneys in various units, including Noncapital Habeas/Appeals, Misdemeanor, Felony, and Capital Habeas.
Education and Experience Information:
To be eligible for the Legal Intern position, applicants must meet the following educational and experiential criteria:
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a 3 or 4-year law school curriculum leading to a degree.
- Admission to the State Bar of California within the past 12 months is required for recent graduates.
- Preference is given to second semester, second-year day students or third-year evening students. However, first-year day students or second-year evening students may also be considered for summer positions.
- To qualify during the school year, candidates must have completed their first year at an accredited law school.
