The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is currently seeking a Graduate Legal Intern to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist DEP attorneys with legal research and participate in administrative hearings and meetings. The selected candidate will work on a variety of subject areas, including environmental law, real estate, land use, contracts, labor law, employment law, and energy law.
As a Graduate Legal Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This position is open to students currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at an accredited college, university, or law school. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required, and coursework in environmental law, contracts, labor, employment, energy, and administrative law is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform legal research and assist DEP attorneys with various legal matters
- Participate in administrative hearings and meetings
- Work on a variety of subject areas, including environmental law, real estate, land use, contracts, labor law, employment law, and energy law
- Develop strong writing skills and effective interpersonal skills
- Utilize computer software to assist with legal tasks
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and self-motivation
- Work well with minimal supervision
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at an accredited college, university, or law school
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Coursework in environmental law, contracts, labor, employment, energy, and administrative law preferred
- Strong writing skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Familiarity and/or experience with computers/software
- Leadership skills
- Self-motivation
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision
