Job Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Summer Law Clerk is to participate in the law firm's summer program, which serves as the main pathway for new lawyers to join the firm. The program is designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of the firm’s high-quality environment, collegial atmosphere, teamwork, and collaborative culture. Summer Law Clerks will gain exposure to real-world legal matters and engage in various projects across different practice areas. The program includes mentoring and constructive feedback on assignments to aid in the clerks' skills development. Additionally, the program offers social opportunities to interact with peers, attorneys, and firm leaders. Clerks are expected to work on projects from a variety of practice areas through a free-flowing assignment system.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be J.D. students attending an ABA-accredited law school, graduating in December 2026 or May 2027. The firm seeks highly qualified, team-oriented candidates from diverse backgrounds, with excellent academic credentials and strong legal writing skills. Preferred candidates should be in the top 30% of their class, with law review, journal, or moot court experience, and demonstrated leadership capabilities. Candidates should also have connections or a sincere interest in starting their legal career in the office location they apply for, along with a strong interest in the office's practice areas.
Salary Information:
The weekly salary range for Summer Law Clerks is $2,115 - $2,400. This pay range is the law firm's good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for the position. Actual compensation will depend on the office location.
Additional Information:
The Summer Law Clerk positions are only available to students who are U.S. citizens or have the appropriate authorization to work in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not available. The program runs for approximately 10 weeks, beginning with a mandatory orientation in Syracuse, NY.
