Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research for cases before the #***#, which is the highest court for criminal cases in the state.
- Review applications for writs of habeas corpus and petitions for discretionary review.
- Prepare for oral arguments and assist in the drafting of judicial opinions.
- Collaborate with judges and other court staff to ensure thorough and accurate legal analysis.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in criminal and appellate law, with an emphasis on effective research and writing skills.
Education and Experience Information:
- Open to all law students who will have completed their legal studies by the beginning of the clerkship.
- Licensed attorneys are also eligible to apply.
- Preference is given to candidates who have demonstrated an ability to research and write effectively, particularly in the fields of criminal and appellate law.
Salary Information:
- The annual salary for a law clerk is approximately $74,502.
Additional Information:
- Each Judge on the Court hires one law clerk for a one-year term beginning on September 1.
