Just did a packet of 5 RC passages. 32 minutes, minus 3. My goal is to be at -0 and under 35 consistently by the end of this. After all, I'll have seen the passages before, so I'm giving myself a bit of an advantage anyways.

I see. I spent 42ish minutes doing the LG section of PT 41. I've never done circular games and this one had one, and alone it took me 15 mins. I was stuck on 2 questions for the longest which made my timing even longer. I got both of those questions wrong (misread one and the other was just time consumingish). The one that I misread, asked for minimum possible number of people between __ and __, I read it as maximum -___-

HAHA! Add me to the list of those who hate parallel questions! I'm hoping once I study them and drill them they'll become easier. Whenever I have encountered them on actual sections I just skip them.

30 dollars and 2 hours later, I now have packets of 5 for both RC and LG. Drill baby drill-- gonna strike oil.

Isn't it great dropping $100s on LSAT prep? Haha. It will all pay off when you get a good scholarship though. That's how I have been looking at it at least.

Watched a webinar on 7Sage last night called My 18 Point Increase Story by Nicole Hopkins (https://7sage.com/webinar/my-18-point-increase-story/). In the webinar she showed her acceptance letter from Emory with a $99,000 scholarship. When asked if the several months were worth it she simply responded with something like "Those months of hard work and effort is valued at almost $100,000 so it was totally worth it!" Remember what all of this is working towards!!

Keeping it all in perspective has helped me get through this more than anything. It has also taught me to not settle for a schools median LSAT score in order to increase my odds of a great scholarship. Here's to a 172+ and $100,000 scholarship!

Spoke with a colleague today about how she did on her LSAT when she took it (she's about to be a 3L). She ended up with a 161 and went to a T2 school with having almost all of her points taken off from LG... She said RC was her best section and she could go near perfect on it. On the inside, I was just like WTF WTF WTF WTF. How is RC her best section without studying for it much, but LG is her worst and she didn't even try to learn the section. Shit, I WISH I had her problem. I'd relearn everything I know about LG just to have a natural intuition for RC.

I just could not get my brain moving on the first LR section. 5 minutes was called towards the end and I missed the last 4 by trying to go too quickly (not including the 1 I missed by running out of time). I then proceeded to finish the other LR section before 5 minutes was even called...

This was my first PT in almost a month - perhaps that had something to do with this.

If LG is your worst section, I recommend doing nothing but drilling until you get it perfect. It sucks, but it'll help way more with your score than a more holistic approach.

I like to do questions 15-25 from an old PT before taking a new PT. Warms your mind up.

Confession: I've been procrastinating with RC because I suck at it and when I do a passage, I feel like I'm back to square one of not knowing shit. LR and LG improvement make me feel accomplished, but RC sucks! I need to get out of this mentality and start destroying RC as well.

Same tbh D: I might've gotten a few strategies to avoid bombing it completely, but I don't think I've really made headway since diagnostic.

Need to get out of this mentality for sure. My plan - once I get back - is 3-4 RC sets per day, + 3 -4 LG sets, and the rest of the time on LR. That way I should be spending a solid 2 hours per section. With heavy drilling, improvements will have to come eventually. (*knock on wood*)

I'm trying to learn to like RC - It's kind of nice in that it's reading, and the content is sometimes interesting, and you learn some random facts. Which I do appreciate, as a die-hard Ravenclaw with limited time to read / accumulate factoids.

I hadn't - bookmarking it look forward to looking at it closer when I get the chance! (I fear the fam will notice my absence...) Not sure how well heavy annotation would work for me but I do underline and draw some arrows as it is, so having something more systematized couldn't hurt. Thanks!

Yeaaaa.. I have been procrastinating with RC drilling too tbh; however, I have been consistent with dense LSAT reading from Novels, the Economist, WSJ etc and ive noticed tough passages or even questions haven't been to "mind-boggling" for me. Ive noticed an improvement in focus and retention for sure just from keeping up with dense readings and making it a habit the past few months.

People seem to have one or two topics that seem to consistently cause them problems/make their eyes glaze over, and mine seems to be economics, sometimes legal theory. Definitely need to get more exposure to those areas.

I really dislike some humanities / art ones, but, one thing about those I have learned which somewhat helps me is that they, more so than other types, often have multiple viewpoints as they lend themselves towards those types of formats moreso than science.

Good to hear! humanities / arts generally don't cause me too much trouble (though, because I said this, I'm prob going to promptly bomb the next arts passage I read) but some complicated history passages can be nasty. Hoping with more RC practice I'll be able to recognize the different formats and tailor my approach accordingly, and issues with content will become background.

Thanks. I wouldn't say it's my worst section, that would be RC lol. My issue with LG is timing. But I know that will come with more drilling. If I give myself like 40 minutes to do an LG section I can finish it but not in 35. RC is a different story.. I tend to only be able to finish 3 passages and I don't even get all of the questions right for the ones I can do.

I've actually done that passage, and it was an earlier one where I went through everything very closely. I can post my thoughts on it here if you are interested. I have what I consider pretty thorough explanations that were checked by the TM people.

I like to do questions 15-25 from an old PT before taking a new PT. Warms your mind up.

I have my second diagnostic this Sunday, so I'll do that beforehand if I can. Maybe a grouping game, an ordering game, and 5-10 LR.

I've also decided that I'm going to quickly type up every Testmaster's LR question that I have missed or wasn't 100% sure about and compile them into some form of packet. I'll do it once I catch up, as it's a fairly short list at this point.

What's your degree in? Maybe find a part time job at something simple like a coffee shop, retail, etc. You can also take up some type of internship that isn't law related, something you find interesting. Like me, I find public relations somewhat interesting (not full on career wise though), and if I were to take a gap year, I would probably find an internship in that field to see what it's like. What kinds of things are you interesting in? If you're really up for it, maybe even travel!!
