I was emailed a fee waiver and told it would automatically take effect when submitting my application..... well it didn't lol. So I called the admissions office and told them that I had received the email but the LSAC website was still asking for the fee, so she gave me a fee waiver code over the phone.

Once I finished my application, I realized I could have totally been lying to that lady to get that code because she didn't ask for any of my info.

On another note... this whole February thing really does suck.

A good family friend was a Woodruff scholar. From what I was told, after they receive the letter of nomination and your application (and you're accepted), if you're a finalist, you get invited to a Woodruff Scholarship weekend thing. They interview you, you learn about the school, etc.

I think making it to the finalist weekend is the biggest hurdle, they only interview people that they really believe they want.

I just got an email that said "Thank you!" with no signature or anything about two days after I sent in my letter.

Emory is kinda starting to piss me off with these little "we're still workin' on it!" messages...

+1. I'm feeling like they don't have a status checker just so they can send us these e-mails advertising the school and know that we read them.

Hi TLS readers – this is Ethan Rosenzweig, the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Emory Law. From time-to-time, I appreciate your allowing me to post information regarding the 201-2014 admission cycle. As always, if you have any specific questions, please feel free to email our office at jdadmission(a)emory.edu for a personal response.

We are entering the decision phase of the admission cycle, and I wanted to provide a brief update along with general information:

Application Acknowledgment: When you apply, we will send you via email an “application received” note. Then, when your file enters review (application, LSAC report, and 2 letters of recs are received), we will send you a “file complete” email. If you have any concerns, please send us a note to jdadmission(a)emory.edu, and we will be happy to assist. If you registered for the February LSAT, we will hold your file until those scores are released in early March.

Decisions: Our goal is to begin issuing decisions in mid-February (similar to last year). Here is some background on our timing: Our full-scholarship Woodruff Fellowship deadline is next week (http://www.law.emory.edu/woodruff), and we will review those submissions to put together a group of Finalists. Also this month, we complete admitting students through an “accelerated decision” process (also known as binding early decision) with a deadline of February 1, 2014 as well. As soon as Accelerated Decision concludes and we review the Woodruff files, we will quickly begin mailing decisions to all our applicants. In addition, at Emory Law, we communicate any scholarship award with your initial admission letter; thus, I am learning that our review of your application tends to take a little longer than other schools so that we can present you a full admission package in one mailing. I am hoping to issue a few decisions in early February with the majority of our decisions communicated in mid-February through mid-March.

I unequivocally recognize the stress in waiting to receive a decision. You spent a considerable amount of effort applying to Emory Law, and we owe you a comprehensive evaluation of your application. Because of our commitment to considering all aspects of a candidate’s file beyond the LSAT and GPA, your file is reviewed numerous times including a merit-based scholarship review before we issue our decision. I sincerely appreciate your patience.

We have been sending monthly emails to applicants to learn more about our community, and also to assure folks that we are both working hard reading their applications and haven’t forgotten about you. In the past, I have received feedback that we were not communicating enough between application submission and application decision notification, so I appreciate your feedback on the cadence and substance of our communications this year. It is very much helpful as we try to develop the optimal admission experience for you.

Decision Notification Method: This year, similar to last year, we are testing various methods of communicating decisions (US Postal Service, Fedex, and in some cases, email). Please do not read anything into how we communicate our decision to you. I appreciate hearing individual feedback from you via jdadmission(a)emory.edu.

Questions: Send us an email. Our staff will answer your questions quickly and as comprehensively as possible. I promise that if you send us a direct email, we will definitely respond with timely and accurate information.

Finally, thank you for so many strong applications so far. I thought the files I reviewed last year were stellar; this year has been simply blockbuster. My favorite part is reading your essays, and so many of them are so well-written and impactful. On a personal note, reviewing these applications makes my job so invigorating as we develop our newest community of Emory Lawyers.

I look forward to seeing you in person on campus soon.

Thanks for the update and for reaching out to give the rationale for why your process is a little different. I (and probably everyone else on here too....) look forward to hearing the results of this decision phase!

Checking in! Emory is my one reach school and I will probably be attending if accepted. Does anyone know what c/o 2016 medians were??? On website they still have c/o 2015, or maybe I'm just missing something! Good luck to everyone!

The class of 2016 medians are 165/3.75. You can check out 25th/75th percentiles, scholarships, etc. in their Standard 509 Report.

Really hate Emory's short email reply, no matter how sincerely you talk to them.
Feel like not be respected.

Ayup. I've e-mailed them twice and have gotten a grand total of three words out of them.
