I really want to give NU a shot but I doubt they'll take me... with 90% of their students having at least 1 yr WE i doubt someone like me (fresh out of college) will have a shot. but checking in anyways

I wouldn't sell yourself short. The current statistics are for last year's % with work experience and if I remember correctly, it has decreased significantly from the years before. I've talked to a ton of people who went straight through and I think the number probably went down even more for C/O 2016. Best of luck if you apply PM if you have any questions etc.!

I messed up and sent in only academic LORs (that's what happens when you don't read individual directions!). I wonder how that will impact me. I guess I can always send in a professional LOR if they'll take it.

Applied Sept 24th, had my alumni interview this past Monday, just cruising/waiting till I get a response. I'm assuming the changing status date means little at this point?

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
The interview questions weren't too hard.
Why your undergrad? Why major? Why law? Why northwestern? Most important leadership experience, Favorite class etc.
They focused a lot on my extracurriculars. (I'm still in undergrad)
The interviewer was very nice and I left feeling really excited about Northwestern, but I was also told that first round of RD won't go out till late December.
Hope this helps people who are preparing for their interviews!

Here's an in-depth post on the Northwestern Interview, part of a thread on law school interviews in general, that any and all who want to prep extra for it should read.happycitrus wrote:Thanks for the info! lgleye wrote:The question that you should be asking is not whether NU would take you, but whether anyone straight out of college would want to go even if accepted. NU's overwhelming percentage of students with WE makes it so that those without WE are put at a severe disadvantage when finding a job. Sorry guys, but even though the app process may seem so hard, it's nothing compared to the pain and anxiety you'll feel during OCI which begins the summer before your 2L year. when your best shot at BigLaw occurs. There, you'll have the chance to interview with the V100 and NLJ250 firms, who come on campus and, through a short 20-minute "screener" meeting, select and offer students callback interviews at their home offices.
Now, do you really want to be among the very few people going into NU OCI WITHOUT any WE?? You would need to be in NU's top 10-15 percent to overcome such a hurdle. I have not seen a "straight-through" with less than a 3.7 GPA who got an offer.
well this is scary as fuck. looks like nonWE folks shouldn't even consider NU.

Just finished my interview this morning. It was basically an easy, fun hour of talking about my interest in the law and hearing war stories from my interviewer's career and time at NU.
I definitely over-prepared. It's not as tough as a regular job interview.

I applied over a week ago and still no status checker or recognition email, anybody else in the same boat?

Same boat. I even checked the interview portal just to make sure I hadn't missed any emails. No dice. They said allow 3 weeks, we're at the 20 day mark. I would love to be able to get this ball rolling.linkx13 wrote:Applied 10/8 and still no interview set up
EDIT: Just got the email an hour ago. Hopefully this means that for all who are still waiting it'll show up soon.

For those who did off-campus interviews, did you initiate an email to your interviewer after you received their contact information? Seems like an obvious yes, but I just want to check
thanks!
