Sorry to hear it, Coal. I'm sure that you'll be headed somewhere exciting, though. Try to rest and recover from your injury soon.

Yeah sorry, Coal. That full ride at NU is a pretty sweet deal though, so I hope you've been able to relax a little with that in your back pocket.

Is a pre-WL LOCI a good idea? I am expecting a rejection any day now, but at the same time, I submitted in October and haven't heard anything yet, so I am completely irrationally getting a tiny tiny tiny bit of hope.

OK, so I talked with a friend of mine who is a SLS student and knows some people in the admissions office. He says he spoke with one of them today and Stanford has handed out about 80% of its acceptances to date. This is a very reliable source, so I have no reason to doubt him.

Good point -- nothing to lose. I've yet to write a LOCI...do I just keep it short and sweet, expressing my continued interest in the school and my hope that I will be given a chance? I suppose I have a few new developments to speak of since my application's submission, but nothing revolutionary (new job, a few new creative developments).
I also live near Stanford now, whereas I didn't when I applied. I assume it's not like UVA, where it could actually help to stop by and talk with an admissions office rep?

Do it

They seem to have ignored mine so far, but on the other hand, I haven't yet been rejected...

This topic seems to surface quite a bit. As Crackberry said, there's no harm in doing it. I sent one in, and was accepted a few days afterward. That could just be happenstance, though.

Does this count WL acceptances or just the regular admits?

from what I gather it was just the regular admits. I'll try to find out if the person knows forsure though.

That would be consistent with the results on LSN. I see 46 acceptances so far out of 446 visible applicants. The average acceptance rate over the previous three years on LSN is 13.4% (not counting those accepted off the WL), which means we should expect about 60 acceptances this year. This puts the current number of reported LSN acceptances at slightly less than 80% of the expected total.

I'll just say that Stanford is unique in being totally non-responsive for so long. It's kind of annoying. They could send a hold message or something. I applied in September and haven't heard anything. Other law schools are able to not keep people waiting for so long without a status update.

TBF, whats the difference between being told you're "held" and just having to wait longer?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
