3.82 / 169 / international. chances at top 5?
So I only submitted by applications last week/earlier this week. Was wondering how that will impact my chances. I have pretty good softs, WE (including military experience), recs and PS, and I am also from a fairly low-income earning family. Also, do international students count as URMs? If not, do they otherwise stand out as applicants i.e. does being international (but attending a good liberal arts college in the US) in any way increase my chances?

i think with your softs, you have a decent chance at Chicago, especially if you ED. Not higher though.

Your chances at the top 6 are very slim. You shouldn't expect anything higher than michigan

Like undergrad admissions, being an international makes you stand out, but in a very bad way (unless you have a green card, which would make adcomm treat you the same way as citizens, or are from a very under-represented country outside of Asia and Europe). Of people being rejected in mostly "in" areas at HYSCCN, many are internationals with high stats (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/stats.php). I think you do have a chance at CCN, though, retaking the LSAT would boost your chances.

okay you guys were right. i just got rejected from chicago and i'm only in at duke and georgetown now. it doesn't seem like i will get in at nyu or any of the top 6 for that matter. what should i do? i'm tempted to try again the next cycle after re-taking my lsats.

Get a serious job and work so that your resume at least changes. Volunteer on weekends to buffer your resume. Get at least one LOR from an employer or volunteer supervisor. Rewrite a statement or two to include what you've learned in the year off.quaskx wrote:ok, if i try again, the question is, what do i do for a whole year after i graduate this june? and how do adcomms view re-applications the very next year, with probably little change in my resume and statements etc.?
