The low r squared value just means that the GPA is not a good predictor of lsat score, which it isn't.oldercoldervoice wrote:Is there a place I can just download all the data? Because the thought of copy/pasting from http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/stats.php makes me feel physically illbasedvulpes wrote:ooooo I like this, I like the words you're usingoldercoldervoice wrote:Presumably the data this site has about the GPA/LSAT of hundreds of applicants would give a better idea of the true correlation between the two. At which point we could overlay that regression onto our graph and circle the people who are farthest off average.basedvulpes wrote:True, I'm way more interested in how far off everyone wasoldercoldervoice wrote:Or everyone is WILDLY incorrect about their LSAT scores.basedvulpes wrote:So we really are special snowflakes???oldercoldervoice wrote:If anyone remembers that poll basedvulpes did a while back asking for GPA and predicted LSAT score, I just ran the regression and basically y'all are all fuckin over the place because the R squared value is literally like, 3%. So that tells us NOTHING
ETA: This means that only 3% of the variation in LSAT scores can be explained by the variation in GPAs. Y'all suck.

Or it means our data is garbage, which it is.GiveMeGrayIcons wrote:

But even if it was perfect data, the r squared would be bad.oldercoldervoice wrote:Or it means our data is garbage, which it is.GiveMeGrayIcons wrote:

Possibly. We don't know unless we actually run the regression. I can't imagine it would be like, 95%, but I also really doubt it would be 3%.GiveMeGrayIcons wrote:But even if it was perfect data, the r squared would be bad.oldercoldervoice wrote:Or it means our data is garbage, which it is.GiveMeGrayIcons wrote:

Point being, this was my first time taking it; so I will take it again regardless as it can't hurt.pace03 wrote:Yea that being the best-case scenario seems like your setting your expectations quite low.ruizdaw wrote:That's my worst case scenario.JaimeD15 wrote:How many people have a best-case scenario which involves taking it again in October?

Update: figured out that the pages for individual schools have a table with every applicant who applied to that school. I think I'll pull the data from just the T14 and run that.
