Can anyone familiar with the firm discuss it? I have an interview with them soon. Thanks!

I was a Summer Associate there last year. What do you want to know?

What's the work environment like? How are they doing in this economy? How important are grades from top 14 schools? What is the salary scale/bonus scale like, and how are the exit options?Anonymous User wrote:I was a Summer Associate there last year. What do you want to know?

Had a friend that worked there this summer...loved it. Also worked at another (different) big firm and hated it. They said the atmosphere was great and really want to go back.

Thanks. Did he find it really conservative? Do you know how grade picky they are at top schools?

Politically, it is probably pretty conservative b/c of their corporate interests and ties to the south, but they all had fun and were able to socialize. This person had top grades (as in top of his/her class) at a regional school to one of their offices. Not sure how deep they go as far as T14 schools.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Had a friend that worked there this summer...loved it. Bumping instead of creating a new thread. Anyone wanna offer what you can expect to bill at BABC? I know salary is 110,000 the first year but what about beyond that? Are bonuses lockstep? Just general opinions?
Everything about it seems to good to be true, 100% offer rate, partner to associate ratio, work-life balance, etc.

Salary scale is pretty compressed compared to NYC scale beyond initial starting range. I don't think the bonuses are that substantial either but not entirely sure. You're going to be billing less than in NYC but not a ton less but I think that small drop-off is what determines quality of life for most people. They have a lot of Financial Services litigation work right now so I think they're actually looking to expand.
I have done a summer at BABC and at another firm in Birmingham and would be happy to answer additional questions with more personal details through PM if anyone has more questions.

Thanks, I'll wait till if I'm fortunate enough to have an offer before PMing but I appreciate the feedback. Did you enjoy the firm? How did it compare to the other firm?Anonymous User wrote:Salary scale is pretty compressed compared to NYC scale beyond initial starting range.
