Does Lewis Brisbois pay like crap?
They are the only biglaw firm that does not seem to pay anywhere close to competitive. Is this correct?

If I had a dog, it would pay me in crap. I assume Lewis Brisbois would pay in electronic funds.

I think if you have options, then of course, you should try to aim for the best firm you can get into. But if you had options, you wouldn't really be considering Lewis Brisbois. Take lemons and make lemonade, doods.

The fact that they don't even have a page in the NALP Directory is telling...

Re: Does Lewis Brisbois pay like crap?
Lol. When I mass mailed a few weeks ago I'd be all like "ooh, this firm look o.k." and then I'd see insurance defense and I'd immediately turn the page.
I would likely leave law before I ever defended insurance companies. That's about my one limitation.
Edit: note that I say "likely." If I could not feed my family or something w/out this kind of job of course I'd do it.

I think you meant to ask the following: "What is wrong with defending Corporations?"
Of course, I don't expect you to know the answer.

There are major positives to in-house ID work
1) No billable hours
2) Essentially 9-5 and rare weekends
3) Lots of hands-on courtroom experience
But that's only limited to in-house work.

The fact that you'd be defending an entity that its sole purpose and business model is to screw people as much as possible?Veyron wrote:What is wrong with defending insurance companies?A'nold wrote:Lol. Agree with you A'nold. I'm planning to be a plaintiff side securities/FCA lawyer, focused on representing whistleblowers. Fuck Corporations and their fat cat executives.A'nold wrote:The fact that you'd be defending an entity that its sole purpose and business model is to screw people as much as possible?Veyron wrote:What is wrong with defending insurance companies?A'nold wrote:Lol. Yes, representing the corporations responsible for our prosperity as a nation will make it so very hard to sleep at night. This sounds like what the people from school would say whose daddies do personal injury. Because we all know there has never been a personal injury, worker's comp, or product liability suit whose motives weren't as pure as the driven snow.A'nold wrote:The fact that you'd be defending an entity that its sole purpose and business model is to screw people as much as possible?Veyron wrote:What is wrong with defending insurance companies?A'nold wrote:Lol. Lol, considering my dad was an unemployed bum that occasionally got a part time janitor job.......Veyron wrote:This sounds like what the people from school would say whose daddies do personal injury. Dude, I saw your comment coming from a mile away. While plaintiff's firms are also out for money, there are a lot of PI peeps out there that also do it for honorable reasons. Insurance companies exist for the sole purpose of getting as much money as possible and trying to give the least amount possible. While some might call this typical business as usual, it is not. Microsoft selling windows does not intentionally try to harm innocent people who have paid for their services.
