Negotiating Scholarship at Santa Clara

Post by valley splitter » Mon Jan 25, 2010 10:19 pm

Does anyone know anything about negotiating scholarships at Santa Clara? I'm not sure if they are willing to negotiate scholarship amounts or, if they are, how much I could expect to raise my scholarship. I called today, but their office was closed. If someone has any experience with this I'd really appreciate any advice.

I emailed the Dean who signed my offer letter about perhaps reviewing my scholarship to determine if there were any further funds available, and I never received a response. I did, however, get an email saying I was a potential candidate for a Dean's Fellowship that would cover full tuition for all three years, but the stress was on potential. All in all, sending an email or calling the admissions office can't hurt, but I'm not sure how much they're willing to budge.

Huh. Well I think I'm going to go to the Admitted Students Day this Thursday and see if I can talk to one of the financial aid people. I think I might want to go to SCU and, while I can afford it with what I've already received, a little more would allow me some amount of financial freedom (i.e. being able to eat out more often, go to bars, buy stuff without asking my parents for money). I have other offers so I hope that they might consider my strong desire to attend Santa Clara, after having done my undergrad there, in a positive manner and give me a little more $.
