My purpose for starting this thread is NOT to discourage folks from going to work for Big Law or becoming lawyers. That is not my business. I do want folks to understand what they are getting into though. If this mentality doesn't bother you, Great.

So I'm thinking about having surgery to remove a brain tumor, which airline do you suggest I fly to have the best chance of sitting next to a stragner who can advise me on this procedure?

Here is the reason people aren't taking you seriously: You are not qualified to opine on the "biglaw mentality" (whatever that may be) simply because you sat next to some guy on an airplane.

Maybe I'm being too harsh. Did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

Response: Frankly, I don't care that folks may not believe me or that they think this might be an isolated case. My attitude is simply being forewarned is forearmed. If folks choose to ignore my post, so be it.

Eh. If I'm actually fortunate enough to get it, it'll be Biglaw for just long enough to pay off my debt as quickly as possible. 2-3 years tops. It's not so bad when you know it's temporary. Definitely not something I'd want to make a career out of, though.

So he's a biglawllama?
Yes. But he's afraid of getting laid off because of his loser mentality.

No, the TSA has made an exception for him. But he refuses to fly coach- which can get expensive.
