Greetings all, fairly new to the site
With a 3.8-9 and 173 retake (score increase 6+ pts), what do you think my chances are for Harvard? Will being a permanent resident of Missouri be a boost at all? if it helps, average softs at best.
According to Harvard's most recent class profile:
Permanent Residence:
26% Northeast: NJ, NY, PA
14% Far West: CA, NV
14% Mid-South: DC, DE, KY, MD, NC, TN, VA, WV
11% Southeast: AL, FL, GA, MS, SC
10% Great Lakes: IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI
8% South Central: AR, LA, OK, TX
7% New England: CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT
3% Mountain West: AZ, CO, ID, NM, UT
2% Northwest: AK, OR, WA
1% Midwest: IA, MO, NE

Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
Side note, will posting accurate stats be detrimental to my admissions cycle?

I believe those scores make you borderline at Harvard, so softs and the quality of your PS will come into play.Dominusfiki wrote:Greetings all, fairly new to the site

Geographic diversity is probably slightly underrated by most people on TLS. The problem, of course, is that's it's hard to predict - my impression is that schools care a lot more about getting that first person from a state than the second or third. So, if there are a couple of people with better scores than you applying, you won't get a boost. If you're the highest score, they might take you over people with similar stats.
Basically, don't count on anything
I think most people find posting accurate stats makes no difference in their admissions cycle - I know it didn't for me, and my numbers/softs are fairly unique. Just don't be a jerk online, and don't criticize the schools you're applying to.
