3.7 170

Post by lawguy999 » Thu Sep 12, 2019 9:35 pm

Currently PT'ing about a 170. Double major, moderate softs. Assuming I do not improve, where might I be accepted, and where might I be able to get some money?

Just get your actual score. There’s a ton of difference between 168, 169, 170, 171, and 172.

This! Plus, don't be hesitant to retake if you end up with, say, a 168 or even a 169. World of difference in admissions and merit aid outcomes between a 169 vs. a 171.

Didn't mean it to sound like I was just content and gonna stop if I get a 170. Realistically, anything under a 177, I would retake. Just wanted to have an idea as a hypothetical assuming I get like a 170 as a "safety", so to speak.

Possibly I am misreading the tone of your post, but if you're serious, I hafta say: There's no reasonable need to retake "anything under a 177." There's very little to no advantage to further score improvements at any school once you hit 175, and I don't even know that I'd ever advise someone in the 171-174 range to retake, unless they had a consistent PT record of 175+s and their GPA is high enough that the extra points might make a marginal difference.

In fact, the only good reason I can think of for retaking a 176 would be for someone who wants to tutor the LSAT and wants to be able to claim they were able to score 180.
