3.05 UGPA 164 LSAT. No good excuses for GPA. It is upward trending with 3.4, 3.75, 3.8 over last three semesters, but I know that doesn't count for a whole lot. I have average/slightly above average softs from undergrad. Good LOR's with one being from a prestigious administrator/professor at a school I'm applying to. Currently working for one of the largest law firms in the world in litigation.
I have always planned on staying in state, but my LSAT ended up being higher than expected so I want to stretch my options in the hopes that I can get lucky at one or two schools. In state I am 6+ points above all schools 75th LSAT, so I should have a good chance at scholarship with those. My reach schools now are Iowa, Indiana, Northwestern (ED?), Vanderbilt, Georgia, Emory, Alabama, WUSTL (ED?), Georgetown, George Washington, William & Mary, and maybe Boston University (ED?).
I would only be applying to one school Early Decision, and I know that they are all stretches, but with the scholarships available I figure it's worth a shot.
1.) Is there any hope that I could get NW Early Decision?
2.) St. Louis is better for me than Boston, so is there any advantage applying to BU Early Decision instead of WUSTL?
3.) Do I have a shot at getting enough money at any of these schools to make them a competitive option?

You will not get NU ED. You will also not get BU ED (the scholarship one) nor GW ED.
Unfortunately, with those schools, you are likely to get zero or close to zero money if you get in to any of them. Honestly retake is the answer here.

No chance at ED Northwestern or RD Northwerstern for that matter. Where do you want to work after law school?Acrobatic Fox wrote:3.05 UGPA 164 LSAT. No good excuses for GPA. I would prefer to stay in the Southeast (East of Missouri, South of Virginia). I am from Kentucky, and working for the NYC office of the firm I work for. Applying to instate schools Kentucky, Louisville, Northern Kentucky, and Cincinnati (Get instate tuition, and right across border). All of these schools have a 75th percentile LSAT of 158 or lower, but I am below the 25th percentile in GPA.trebekismyhero wrote:No chance at ED Northwestern or RD Northwerstern for that matter. I have connections in Atlanta and Nashville, and have spent time in St. Louis. With my firm I have spoken to HR about the possibility of working for them after school, and they told me that even though I probably won't be going to schools they normally recruit from I will have a good shot at employment since I work for them now. I know that isn't even close to a sure thing, but that would give me the possibility of ending up in DC or NYC after graduation.

That's what I figured. I am going to apply this cycle, and then consider a retake after finding out possible scholarship info. My LSAT was higher than my PT average, so I don't want to risk a lower score in December. If I decide to retake it will be next June.grades?? wrote:You will not get NU ED. Well you should get $$ from all the schools you listed in-state. Probably will get into UT-K and UGA, but not sure about $. Apply broadly, but definitely think about retaking. Going to UK, Louisville or Cinicinnati on a big scholarship is fine as long as you're not expecting big law from it.Acrobatic Fox wrote:I would prefer to stay in the Southeast (East of Missouri, South of Virginia).
