3.78 vs 3.8/ LSAT 174
Hi everyone. I am a rising senior at a flagship public university studying Econ and History (honors program). My goal would be to get into a top 10-14 school. I had a rough first semester of college (2.97) and because of it my current GPA is at 3.78. I've gotten 4.0s a couple semesters. Should I take summer classes to boost my GPA to a 3.8 before I apply? Would it help my chances at all? After my first semester senior year I should have a 3.8+. I am currently doing an internship, but can take classes online. I don't know if this is a booster or not, but I am a Hispanic immigrant/ URM. Thanks!

I think your time would be better spent this summer polishing your applications so you can have a perfected application and submit day 1. With a 3.78/174 and URM status you can get in to all 3 of YHS and full rides to T-14s, but you need a great application! get those apps in day 1! Good luck!
Edit: if they are easy classes and you don't have to spend 3k on summer school (like I did) I would say it is worth it to take the classes. BUT only if you can get your apps together while taking the classes

Thanks for the advice. It would be around 1k, but they would be easier history classes. I just wonder how much of an impact a .02 difference would have.

No worries! If you look at the 2016 URM Cycle thread you will see that there are a bunch of people who were in at H with significantly lower stats than yours and also Y and S with similar stats! You have no limits here!Prelaw1011 wrote:Thanks for the advice. It would be around 1k, but they would be easier history classes.

Retake!
Just joking. Don't. You'll kill it next cycle.

It's a .02 difference. I don't think it really matters at all. Plenty of people with your numbers got HYS this cycle. If you want to take the classes, then go ahead, but don't do it because you think it will in any way determine your outcome. If I were you I'd just live it up and party for my last summer.

Thank you everyone! I will probably not take the classes then and get started on applications.
