4.12 GPA/ 165ish on PT...chances?
Hi yall! I'm getting ready to take the June test and am wondering what my chances are of admissions/scholarships at a T14 school with my current scores/GPA. I'm averaging about a 164-166 on my practice exams. I have a high GPA (4.12) and thus want to apply to some T14 schools, but I would not be devastated if I don't end up at one. I do know that I for sure cannot pay sticker price for any school. I have solid rec letters, strong involvement, and am not a URM. My dream school is Duke but I realize my my LSAT score is on the low end. I am also very interested in Vanderbilt, Georgetown, UNC Chapel Hill, Virginia, and Texas. I also have SMU, Wake Forest, and Alabama on my list as well. P.S I know everyone is going to say to get my LSAT score up because my GPA qualifies me for great schools. I'm trying....just seem to be at a plateau in the 164-166 range. Please let me know your insight!!

How's your score breakdown looking? Even a couple points higher with that GPA would be waaaaay stronger than where you are now.

Pretty much RC kills me. I usually get -0 to -2 on LG, -2 to -6 on LR, and then RC is all over the place. I missed 9 on the PT I took today, 7 on the RC I took two days ago. Sometimes it's better but it really is the section that destroys my score.Dcc617 wrote:How's your score breakdown looking? What question types are you missing? I had this weird phase where I kept missing easy main point questions until I started doing the "therefore" technique. Or are you having trouble finding stuff in the text?rachel3636 wrote:Pretty much RC kills me. I usually get -0 to -2 on LG, -2 to -6 on LR, and then RC is all over the place. I never outlined or anything, I just made sure to keep referring back and forth between question and text, because the answer is literally there most of the time.

Sometimes main point questions. Science passages usually kill me, I know topic isn't supposed to matter as much as structure/main point/author's stance, but I get so overwhelmed when the topic if dense and science related. I miss a lot the "which of the following would the author of the passage be most likely to agree with" questions, along with "what can be inferred from the passage"

Mylsn is a great resource to gauge your chances, but you need a real LSAT score

What were your first cold scores? Frankly, if you started at a 140, you probably have reached (near) your peak. If you got a 160 your first try, there's still plenty of room for improvement. 165 is nothing to scoff at, but you'll want to raise it to guarantee admission (and more money) at a school like Duke.
