Definitely apply to Cornell, if you don't get NU ED, as they are generous even with splitters. It will be good for negotiating.

There are several splitters on here who have been able to swing scholarships at T-14s this cycle with LSATs and GPAs in the ballpark of yours. So it's definitely possible. Is your GPA from a US institution or is from a foreign university? I don't know much about the grade translation process for foreign schools so hopefully someone else here can chime in to help if that's your case.

Best advice would be to apply very early (think day the apps open) and very broadly for negotiation purposes in case you don't get the NU ED. Anything from whole T-14 to strong regionals in areas you want to practice should be ones you consider. Also, be sure to write all of the school specific essays. All anecdotal of course, but they could help you avoid a few WLs.

I'm British but did my undergrad in Canada. It's harder to get a high GPA in Canada but I doubt it'll make an impact on my admission if I mention it. The law schools are only interested in the number and how it changes the schools average.


It would be a miracle if i get the ED $ haha. I think my GPA is just frustratingly 0.2 points away from being a lock on it

Do you think Im a lock for admission at northwestern even without scholarship? Mylsn seems to think so but I'm curious as to what you all think

With those numbers I would be surprised if you didn't at least get in to NU. Experience shows that you are very likely to get in ED with the $150k. It would by no means be a miracle if you were to get it. I'd say your odds are easily better than 50%. I believe I saw a 2.6/172 that got in ED last cycle. Your GPA may be weak, but it isn't THAT weak. I think you may be able to benefit particularly in the eyes of NU if you work for another year or two as well!

did my undergrad at the University of Toronto and were almost stat twins(3.29 173) although im a URM so im not sure how similar our results would be. What i will say is they dont care about the grade deflation in Canadian schools sadly.

I don't believe anyone with a 2.6 GPA was admitted via ED, though according to LSN someone with a 177/2.7 was admitted with $75K scholly offer.

In any case, I believe the odds of admission are very good with 174/3.3, but whether you get the ED scholarship depends on the strength of your entire application/interview, and the ED application pool next fall. It's definitely worth a shot, however. Good luck!
