Re: My Chances at CLS?
If you go early decision i think you'll be in. People ln this forum say theres not much of a boost, if any, for early decision at cls but the most borderline candidates by numbers at cls are almost all ed (look at the admission spreadsheets). With a polished application I'd bet money that you get in. Regular decision i wouldnt make that bet

You would be a fool to ED with those numbers, you're exactly the type of person who SHOULDN'T ED (someone who's a crapshoot for money at close peer schools). Maybe you get Columbia ED at sticker and NYU with 70k. Maybe you get 120 to Penn. Until you give me a very very good reason why CLS is the only law school for your goals, I'm gonna disapprove of this plan.

Re: My Chances at CLS?
You shouldn't ED to Columbia because they don't offer any scholarship money to ED applicants.

To the posters above: fully agree. I was just trying to answer the question, not advise

Can you clarify point 2 for me? How are you financing your education?

Re: My Chances at CLS?
Those reasons really kind of suck but i still say if you early decision you've got a better than 50 percent chance

Nyu does not average at all. Their website might say they do, but the data disagrees, and I have it on good authority that averaging isn't a thing

You could alternatively just submit your application regular decision but early in the fall. It would still get reviewed before most people.thingstobedone wrote: That's the best that I can really offer. I'm sorry that I don't have more, and yes, I know ED doesn't help according to the official policy and also TLS opinions, but it would likely help just based on the fact that they review applications earlier than any other pool and would be more willing to take a weaker candidate like me, right? Maybe my reasoning is wrong. If it is, please tell me why.
Personally I don't know that ED'ing ever makes sense for law school - except maybe for NU that offers a scholarship for EDs.
Think about it from their perspective. They have a limited number of seats. If they like you in ED, they can fill those seats early. If you're kind of on the border and they're not sure, why would they fill up one of their seats in the fall before they've seen the rest of the applicant pool? They can just push you to regular admit.
From the student perspective, you can still apply early and get reviewed early, but you're not committed to that school and you still have bargaining power for scholarships. If you ED, you're certainly not going to get a scholarship. Maybe your chances are low, but you're making your chances 0 by going ED. And personally I'm not sure that it really improves your chances that much.
