Significance of "W" on transcripts
IMPORTANT: Sorry for this, bt the doble-yew and yew on my keyboard are broken--don't know how to fix.
Anyway, I am doing some last minte hosekeeping before I get my applications in before Febrary starts. I noticed that I do have 2 W's on my transcripts--corses which I was destined to fail. These are bsiness corses that I ended p retaking in an attempt to get my bsiness minor. How wold the admissions offices from T2 schools view "W's" when it comes to determining admission? Will having these W's significantly hrt my chances? I have an otherwise average-if-not-stellar GPA (3.4) and decent (161) LSAT.
Thanks and sorry for being lazy. This post probably looks fnny

sorry man but your 3.4 that you think is rather "stellar" and LSAT are gonna cause the biggest issues. but other than that, shouldn't be a big deal. no need to add an addendum or anything.

The W has basically no significance as long as it isn't punitive. Happy to see that your W key is fixed btw.

The W won't do anything. I had one and it was fine. Your GPA isn't stellar, but you'll be fine with that LSAT score for a T2 school.

This is correct. I had at least 3 Ws and got into several top 20 schools with a low GPA. Ws don't matter, GPA and LSAT do.Mr. Archer wrote:The W won't do anything. I had one and it was fine. Your GPA isn't stellar, but you'll be fine with that LSAT score for a T2 school.
But OP, consider retaking the LSAT in February. Going up a few points will really help get you into better schools and/or a lot more scholarship money.

Ws may be a non-issue at a lower T14/T20 school, but might they have an impact with T3 or T6 admissions?

6+ Ws here; accepted CCN on down. Ws = be prepared to explain why, and you should be okay.

"Explain why" as in have a genuine reason (health issue, family, etc.) or simply fabricate a semi-reason?zhenders wrote:6+ Ws here; accepted CCN on down. Ws = be prepared to explain why, and you should be okay.
I only have 1 W as a junior so I assume I wouldn't need to explain anything, but just in case the lone W needs to be discussed or I take 5 Ws over the next year and a half lol...

I had several Ws on mine. I WD a whole term because mono kicked my ass. They're not calculated into my gpa and I didn't write an addendum. It's not a big deal.
