3.05 GPA 173 LSAT
I have a 3.15 GPA (probably closer to 3.05 because I retook two classes and my school completely replaced the grades). Small upward trend in my last two semesters culminating with a 4.0 final semester, but one withdrawal. I also have a 173 LSAT and strong work experience as a software engineer. A negative is that I have an arrest record for misdemeanor marijuana possession but charges were never filed. This occured almost 4 years ago, and I have a spotless recoed before and after the incident. Do I have a chance at northwestern or any other t14s?

Yes. You should apply immediately. I was arrested and entered a diversion program for a misdemeanor 4 years prior to applying to law school, and it has never hampered me in any way. If you need help with the character and fitness addendum, send me a PM.mh1123 wrote:I have a 3.15 GPA (probably closer to 3.05 because I retook two classes and my school completely replaced the grades). I think you're gonna struggle to get T-14s to bite and give you enough money for it to be worth it. I had better GPA and LSAT, and 3 years of software engineering experience, and got waitlisted at UVA. Texas was willing to give me some money, but the initial offer was 1/3 tuition.
One route to take if you're interested in IP is to go get a technical advisor/patent agent job at an IP law firm and see if they'll pay your way through part-time school. There are a handful of T1 schools that have part-time programs, and getting a firm to do that sort of arrangement is somewhat common. There are a few recent threads in some of the other forums where people talk about their experiences in those jobs.

I disagree. I think you will get bites from Michigan, Cornell and GT. Probably 80% or better at each. That lsat is gonna help a lot. Maybe not a lot of scholarship money but there will be a few t14 bites. Totes maybe you just didn't have a great app. It sounds like something was seriously wrong if you had better numbers and didn't get into UVA.totesTheGoat wrote:I think you're gonna struggle to get T-14s to bite and give you enough money for it to be worth it. UVA waitlists splitters with much better numbers than this. A WL there is more likely than getting in. And his point was not that the OP wouldn't get in, but that there wouldn't be enough money to make it worth it. Which could very well be true.fredfred wrote:I disagree.
