175, 3.2x, solid WE
Hi,
I know that numbers similar to mine have been covered, but given my WE and target I think I have a different question than what I have seen.
I have 4 years of very applicable WE (risk management at F100, often working with counsel or professionals with jds). Since I have been lucky enough to work myself up into a 75%Ile + income (with opportunities for advancement without grad school or with an mba), it would be hard for me to leave my career without $$ AND attending a T14.
My questions:
Do I have a shot at ED NU for the 150k scholly, assuming the interview went well, given my WE? Any $$ there?
Can I expect anything substantial from other T14 schools, or $$$ at T20?
Thanks!

Can't imagine that work experience will make a difference for admissions

I can relate, but I think you have a chance at receiving money plus think about the salary after graduation that will most likely surpass. Climbing up the capital market is tough but beneficial. I still think school is a good investment though
Seems like you have a good chance!

Since essentially everyone at NU has WE, your WE will not be a big boost there.wetblanketer wrote:Hi,

That's not correct. The reason everyone at NU has WE is because they value WE more relative to other schools. A high LSAT and solid WE makes OP a stronger candidate for NW relative to peer schools.emkay625 wrote:Since essentially everyone at NU has WE, your WE will not be a big boost there.wetblanketer wrote:Hi,

Thanks! That is really helpful to know. I had trouble placing where I would stand on scholarships at the lower T14.dabigchina wrote:You have almost the same stats and we I did.

Thanks for the input everyone! Seems like I would be a long shot at best at NU, so I'm going to RD since to some extent I'm not sure what I want to do - keep my job and PT law, FT law, or whether I will be able to pull the trigger on law at all. Not having to commit gives me leverage if I want to convince my employer to help pay for a PT program (having FT in my pocket if they say no and I want to go that route).

He's specifically asking about NU ED though and if his work experience would give him a boost for the ED scholly. It won't.badgerdude wrote:That's not correct. PT law plus a non-law job can be miserable. Heck, PT law plus a law job can be miserable. I'm not saying that to dissuade you, but you need to make sure that you're ready to work twice as hard as your classmates who are in the PT program because they put in 10 hours a week at the local coffee shop to have beer money for the weekend.wetblanketer wrote:Thanks for the input everyone!
