AA FEMALE LGBT URM 2.6 GPA/177 LSAT- Chances at NYU?
What are my chances?
I ultimately want to land at NYU.
I served in high leadership roles at my university that received national recognition, while also holding several leadership roles in organizations/community. I fell into a depression my senior year due to a numerous factors, ultimately, figuring out who I was. This resulted in my grades falling for two semesters until I was diagnosed for manic depression/adhd and realizing my LGBT status all in one year. Very difficult year for me. I decided to get my focus together and figure out my purpose. I took a year off from school and came back making straight A'S my following two semesters.
I did have a decent GPA in the low 3.0's but I had to work hard to get it back to this point.
Worked with high profile senators and attorneys as well as an Intern during my off year. However, held internships with Fortune 500 during UG while completing business degree.
Would like to know my chances.

IDK exactly bout NYU just cuz there isn't any real statistical information with someone who is AA with those stats that I could find. I think it wouldn't hurt to apply tho, but also apply broadly to schools throughout the T14 and maybe some other ones just below that rank. Your GPA might have some effect but that LSAT is gold. good luckWorkEthicNBigDreams wrote:What are my chances?

You probably have one of the highest LSATs of any AA female applying (there's a thread from a while back breaks down actually how few AA applicants and high scorers there are) so I would go ahead and blanket the whole t14

Thanks! Wow that's really surprising to hear! Almost shocking.

Yes, apply to all T14 schools. Also, include some lower ranked safety schools, just in case, due to the low GPA. Just out of curiosity, what LSAT prep materials did you use? I'm also an lgbt poc and I have been hovering in the 160s for too long. Anyway, your LSAT score and experience are really fantastic, and I think you will likely see some great scholarships and entrance into a T14. Good luck!

Apply to all the T14. I would research whether you could get a full ride at Northwestern if you ED there. If so that's what I would do.

Great chances. Why NYU tho? If your goal is not bigalw I understand. But what about a place like Cornell? Very LGBT friendly and would probably throw you a full scholly. Not to say that NYU wouldn't. But I'd take the money and run. Wish I'd retaken my LSAT and gotten more money before going. Being out tho, no one really looks at the rankings within the T14 unless its HYS. Just my observation on how people look at my degree compared to people from other ivy's/T14.

That's definitely a killer score, but judging from past cycles it looks like the floor is 3.0 regardless of URM. Definitely consider writing a good addendum explaining your grades and you might have a good shot.

It can be heard to gauge because you are a pretty unique candidate. You're such an extreme splitter, it's almost unheard of (almost...). Being an AA LGBT female is also such a rare combination. My point here is simply that you have such an unusual profile that it is very hard to accurately predict your chances.WorkEthicNBigDreams wrote:What are my chances?

With that in mind: blanket the T14.
