What are my chances at DePaul?
So I am basically average and applying to the part time program. I applied as early as possible (september 1st) and I have a 150 LSAT and a 3.31 GPA. I am not an URM.
Student activities:
Service Chair of Muslim Student Association
Co-founder of a soup kitchen in my city.
I already applied to John Marshall Law School and I got in and I also applied to DePaul as early as I could for the part time program. With my numbers would it be a long shot?

What do you want to do with your law degree? Does DePaul and John Marshall get you there?Joeschmo112 wrote:I have a 150 LSAT and a 3.31 GPA. I am not an URM.
Just given your numbers, the standard recommendation is for you to retake, shooting for something around 165 or higher on the LSAT. That will open up a higher tier of schools. However, it depends on what you're planning on doing when you graduate with $200k in debt from DePaul or John Marshall.

My gosh, I hope the OP doesn't graduate with 20k in debt from those schools.totesTheGoat wrote:What do you want to do with your law degree? Does DePaul and John Marshall get you there?Joeschmo112 wrote:I have a 150 LSAT and a 3.31 GPA. I am not an URM.

As has been said, check lsn to see what comparable applicants have done in the last 3 years - but bear in mind job prospects (check law school transparency by googling "lst" + school name) and amount of debt you'd take on.
For John Marshall - you're above their median LSAT and 75th gpa, you should get in.
For Depaul, you're between their 25th and median lsat, and about their median GPA - it's less likely, but you should get in.
Ultimately it's your choice, but I'd consider a top 100 choice at least apply to Loyola Chicago - you're no shoe-in there, but give it a shot.

Do you think the distinction between John Marshall, DePaul, and Loyola Chicago is meaningless? I think the job prospects are fairly different between the three.BigZuck wrote:Top 100 is a super meaningless distinctionTroianii wrote:My gosh, I hope the OP doesn't graduate with 20k in debt from those schools.totesTheGoat wrote:What do you want to do with your law degree? Job prospects are important, U.S. News Rankings are not important
The job prospects at all 3 schools are quite poor though

Re: What are my chances at DePaul?
There's no causal relation, but the correlation between job prospects and school ranking are strong enough that usnews ranking is a useful shorthand. And all offer poor job prospects, but there's a degree of difference and if the OP is set on law school, they're better off taking a shot at Loyola - where they might get in.BigZuck wrote:That's moving the goalpostsTroianii wrote:Do you think the distinction between John Marshall, DePaul, and Loyola Chicago is meaningless? Re: What are my chances at DePaul?
The correlation between school ranking and job prospects in the "T100" is super weak (if it exists at all).
T100 is a super meaningless distinction.
If the OP is concerned with job placement than the correct answer is "none of the above."
