Non-URM Male, 3.35, 169
Apps went out today. I have applied to UT, SMU, UH, and Baylor so far. What are my chances as far as these go, especially regarding scholarships, and is there anywhere else I haven't thought of that you would recommend? For reference, that 169 is my second attempt, good softs (Student government, research assistant to respected professor, executive board of fraternity, legal work experience, DC Internship), and my career goals are to do lit either in Houston or Dallas. I've lurked for awhile, and always wanted to do one these. Looking forward to diving into the forums more now that I am officially an applicant.

At this point...you'll either get in or you won't. Probably the former.

It seems like you're a Texas resident based on those schools, and thus I think you will get into UT if things play out like they did last cycle and they need to protect that median again.CBJ15 wrote:Apps went out today. However, I am going to encourage you to apply to more schools for scholarship negotiation purposes - UT is very up-front about negotiating, but they will only match/beat offers from peer schools. In other words, they won't really negotiate as much with you if your competing scholarshhip offer is from UH or SMU as opposed to like Georgetown/UCLA/Emory. Apply to 3 or 4 schools ranked 14-20 so you have some other offers behind you when you negotiate with UT.
