3.47/170 MA URM. Top 10?
Hi folks. I'm a Mexican American male (URM) with 3.47gpa and 170lsat.
My numbers are rare enough that I couldn't find anyone who matched me (they typically had higher gpa or lower LSAT).
I go to a top tier liberal arts college in LA.
What are my odds at cracking the top 10? Thanks.

Assuming a 170, you're about as close to a lock for t10 as there is. Probably grabbing H too.

Apply to any of the T-14 law schools which are of interest to you. While Yale, Stanford, Berkeley & Chicago are unlikely, you are almost certain to get several T-14 acceptances with scholarship money. (And I am not trying to discourage you from applying to the above listed schools.)

Excellent advice, and no need to clarify. I don't have much guidance on this- so I really value honest and blunt information.
This is how I am currently going about things. Luckily I have some fee waivers so blanketing most t-14 schools shouldn't be completely out of the question (I need to pick up extra work shifts though.. I had no idea it was all soo expensive)
Thank you so much, the same goes from me to you. We will end up where God intended, I am sure of itrnoodles22 wrote:Hey man, Godwilling you kill it when you apply! Best of luck, got you in my prayers.

Are you my clone?
We have very similar backgrounds except near the Texas border. And you're right, I can't find any good MA info out there.
Same LSAT score and my GPA is only .04 points higher. I've already gotten into Duke and UVA so I'm sure you're going to have a great cycle mate!

Haha that is so awesome! I really look forward to seeing your success. Congrats on two incredible schools! Good to see a fellow MA holding it down with a 170.
If I can ask, did you check hispanic/mexican on the app but under 'race' check off "white"? I'm wondering if that effects the URM status at all

Will you be the first one in your family to attend grad school? If so:
1. Apply to NYU
2. Apply to their Anbryce program
3. Profit

White is right. Hispanic/Latin@ is an ethnicity, white is a race. It won't affect your URM status if you check the Hispanic box for ethnicity and then white for race. You should also write a diversity statement.jfernandes16 wrote:If I can ask, did you check hispanic/mexican on the app but under 'race' check off "white"? Wow, excellent advice.. I really appreciate it considering I've just begun apps and NYU is coming up soon. I am the first to go to college, let alone, graduate school. Also, that's good to hear about the ethnicity/race section, as I am 50% European from my mom.
I wrote my diversity statement last week and now I'm just gonna edit/revise it.
