3.95 GPA - affected by easy major ?

Post by sapreemo » Sat Sep 05, 2015 9:37 pm

Apologies in advance if there's some place this question is already answered. I am a first time user of these forums.

I currently have a 3.95 GPA, but my major is Management with no minor. I know the stigma of a management degree and honestly, I can't say it's unfounded. I am graduating with Honors, for whatever that's worth. I also have pretty unimpressive extracurriculars and little work experience.

I have been taking practice LSATs all summer in preparation for the October exam. I have been scoring anywhere from 163-169 in the past few months on these practice tests. I fear, however, that my nerves will get the best of me on test day and my score will be lower than my practice test scores. (You may be able to tell my confidence isn't exactly sky-high.)

With that in mind, a few questions I have for you all is:

(1) How much will law schools care about my major being Management?

(2) What LSAT score do I need to earn to be in the running for admission to T-14 schools?

(3) What LSAT score do I need to be in the running to earn money from T-14 schools?

Thank you in advance. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond and help me out. The law school admission process is overwhelming.

Schools other than maybe (MAYBE) Stanford and Yale don't really care what your major is.

Check out www.mylsn.info for chances and scholarship possibilities with different LSAT scores.

No one cares about your major. Get a 170+ and you should be looking at good money from the t14. Take a year off after college if you need to do it, because the added scholarship money is going to outweight what ever opportunity cost you're giving up. Also, employement, particularly if you can get a decent position, will only boost your admissions chances.

That's the point of the LSAT. Standardized test on an even playing field

In theory anyways, factors like easy major, grade inflation, laziness etc will show up on the LSAT score. ( ie a 3.95 , 150 LSAT)

If you got a 170+ no school will care

definitely take a year off so you can do some serious prep work and then earn some serious, tax-free merit money.
