4.0 LSDAS/174 LSAT - H/S/C
Hello everyone,
I am now starting my third year at a Canadian university (ranked #1 for my faculty) who has gotten a 174 LSAT and 4.0 GPA on LSDAS. I recently decided on law school in the states, although I have heard as a Canadian the only reason to do law school in the U.S is if you get into a T-14.
I would be incredibly happy to get into any T-14, however, if I had to list a top 3, it would be Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia. What are my chances for these schools?
Hopefully I can raise my GPA this year to close to a 4.1 (Taking seven courses a semester, 2 birds each semester primarily to bump my GPA - and yes, my school reports A+'s on the transcript so thats why my GPA is relatively high).
Softs include: manage and run a charity that raises over 50K a year (dont want to reveal too much info but it spans four universities in Canada), student politics things, internship at top 3 management consulting firm this summer and hopefully next summer, and a bunch of other small things like tutoring, etc.
What are my chances at those three schools, and all T-14 in general? Also, what about scholarships?

Sorry new to the forums, I read a few other "Chance me" threads, and it seems they all had a similar topic to mine.lymenheimer wrote:Did you read the post that says "PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING YOUR CHANCES"?

It's fine. A bunch of people 1) think special snowflake applies to them (I did post one for scholarships purposes because I don't really understand mylsn scholly numbers and for thoughts on an ED) and 2) have alternate circumstances where there are few, if any, data points reported to mylsn. Since your numbers are as they are, I'm assuming there are plenty of points to reference. My guess, without looking, is that you will be fine and competitive for HS down. You'd probably make some waves at Y too, but Y and S have been reportedly unpredictable. Likely open to full schollies at many T-14s. You'll have a great cycle. Just finish out UG strong and then worry about law school after.MikeRoss2568 wrote:

Enjoy college, a higher gpa at this point would not help you.

+1 , A GPA increase would be negligible...even at Yale. OP is likely getting 2/3 of HYSjbagelboy wrote:Enjoy college, a higher gpa at this point would not help you.

Don't go to law school for at least 4 years after you graduate, your early 20s are far too precious

You should be taking full rides from mvp over hys. I'm sure of the details finance wise north of the border, but I don't believe our government gives loans if you're not a citizen so research financing this education. Even if you are wealthy or can get loans still consider t14 scholarships over hys depending on career goals

You should have no problems getting a high paying awesome job with a 4.0 from UG. do that for a few years. Please, do that for a few years. If nothing else, it will only improve your law school application down the line, you can save some money, etc. 3 years of work and career advancement at a good company + cost of law school should more than put you on even footing with a first year biglaw associate in terms of salary, with much better work life balance.
If you really want to do PI then go to law school on a full scholarship.
If you really want to do unicorn jobs then good luck HYS it is, but get some w/e first anyway. It will help finding your unicorn job.
