2.57 gpa/178 LSAT, any hope?
My gpa is horrible....2.57, since I had one semester where I completely bombed everything
I do however have a 1 year upward trend of all A's (which wont help too much, I expect)
Have taken the LSAT twice....1st score: 177, 2nd score: 178
My goal is to practice in the NY area. Want to go into corporate law. Am dead set on Top 14 - which I probably wont get into as a direct admit.
1). Is there any chance of Top 14 - with a 2.57/178? Is Cornell or Georgetown likely - or not really?
2). If you end up at say #15-20 school you would be happy graduating from, what ranking would you need to transfer to T14?

If money's no problem, then ED one of the T14.
I'll let others recommend which one specifically

Well I wouldnt describe any t14 as "likely" for you. But it is possible.
Northwestern and NYU have taken some intense splitters in the past. But 2.57 is a whole different level of splitter.
I see a dude on lsn who had 2.65/177 and snagged a few lower t14s. But that might not be reliable/accurate information.

With some post undergraduate work experience, you might get into Northwestern.
Interesting that you chose to retake a 177 LSAT score. Shows that you have a lot of confidence in your analytical & test taking abilities--which is a very good quality. Nice to see that you outperformed your 177 with a 178.
Apply to Georgetown, Cornell, Northwestern & Michigan. Try Virginia & Duke. Consider Fordham since you want NYC.
In answer to your question, finishing in the top 15%, maybe top 20% from UCLA, Vanderbilt, WashUStL or Texas should enable you to transfer to the T-14.
Your main concern should be on your law school PS & on an academic addendum since most are likely to be enchanted by your 177 & 178 LSAT scores.

People below median at WUSTL have been transferring to the lower T14 the past two years. You'll almost certainly get a full ride there.lawschoolT142015 wrote: 2). If you end up at say #15-20 school you would be happy graduating from, what ranking would you need to transfer to T14?
But I think NU is fairly realistic, especially if you have work experience and interview well. Probably won't get a significant scholarship but who knows what next cycle will look like.

Below median people from WUSTL are getting into GULC (I assume this is the T14 you're referencing)? Honestly not sure statistically and I haven't compared LSN's numbers or LSAC's numbers, but I think with post-grad work experience you will get into one T14 or quite honestly maybe even more with a 178. Write a GPA addendum and make it sound genuine. It's much easier for a school to maintain their GPA medians (as almost everyone applying to LS/graduates from undergrad these days has a 3.0+) than LSATs.

One of the many WUSTLers on here can confirm or deny but I believe people at and below median have transferred to Michigan and Northwestern too over the past couple of cycles. I doubt they do very well at OCI once they get there of course.Mack.Hambleton wrote:Below median people from WUSTL are getting into GULC (I assume this is the T14 you're referencing)?
