3.35/165 with a lot of softs
Hi guys,
Having a hard time gauging what schools I would have a good shot at. I should note that I'll put in an addendum that my freshman year GPA was low due to recovering from cancer. I also had to work full-time. I unfortunately was sexually assaulted as well, and coping with that trauma affected my grades.
GPA: 3.35
LSAT: 165
Softs:
Held leadership positions in various student organizations
Peace Corps Volunteer
A lot of work experience (both law-related and not law-related) and community service
URM (black female)
What are my chances at a T14 school? Thanks all.

This has every leftist stereotype in the book.
If you're not trolling, I think that you have a good chance to get into some t14 schools

No. Not trolling...I'm worried how certain things will look on my transcript, and if any Admissions Committee would care about anything. Everything seems like a crapshoot at this point. Thanks.Lawdood wrote:This has every leftist stereotype in the book.

I would hardly agree that these are average softs...pittsburghpirates wrote:As far as your softs go, from browsing around TLS, it appears like your softs are objectively average. Overall, there seem to be very few softs that really make a huge difference in the T14. Northwestern has shown a strong preference for work experience, so you're WE would likely serve you well there.

based on history you should be able to snag lower t14. but you really should retake the LSAT. if you get a 168 or higher harvard is probably in play, and perhaps an auto-admit.

Peace Corps is a strong soft but the others are pretty run of the mill.Clemenceau wrote:I would hardly agree that these are average softs...pittsburghpirates wrote:As far as your softs go, from browsing around TLS, it appears like your softs are objectively average. Surviving cancer at a young age is also really good material for a personal statement. Not that those matter all that much, but it beats the hell out of generic "let me tell you about this mundane thing I did in undergrad that I'll now pretend was really meaningful" essays.pancakes3 wrote:Peace Corps is a strong soft but the others are pretty run of the mill.Clemenceau wrote:I would hardly agree that these are average softs...pittsburghpirates wrote:As far as your softs go, from browsing around TLS, it appears like your softs are objectively average. Solid softs that should make for a really good personal statement. With your current LSAT you should apply from UChicago on down and you will get into at least a few. But as others have said, definitely retake.
A few more points and Harvard is in play and full rides from other t14s. Good luck
