What Should I Do?
Like many people here I am creating a new post based on my June LSAT. I got a 168: -7 total in LR and -6 in RC. I am a virtual lock to get -0 for LG. I am running the Chicago Marathon in October so the feasible retake option for me would be the December LSAT. I had a 3.90 GPA at Stanford and also graduated with honors and distinction. My other main soft is an internship I had at the DOJ last Spring. I am also a quarter Hispanic. My best PT (out of 4) was only 170 but I finally got comfortable with the timing on test day so maybe I could do better with more practice. Money is a big concern for me during this year since I want to go to law school and then do something for the government. I'm sure I could realistically improve 2+ points from my first ever real take but that would require me to shore up RC since I can only say that 2 of my misses (both in LR) on test day were brain farts. So the $170 fee for the test and whatever I might need to pay for other study materials are my big concerns. I still do have some of the online practice from the Kaplan book I self-studied with. Leaning heavily toward the East Coast schools since I do not want to go back to the Bay Area.

I'd withdraw from the marathon and take the test in October.

Re: What Should I Do?
you only scored a 168 and only have a 3.9 gpa? how close is the nearest bridge?
jk lol. how important is the marathon to you? how much time are you spending training that you could spend studying?

This, or just apply early and then retake in Dec.Hikkomorist wrote:I'd withdraw from the marathon and take the test in October.

Very important. Chicago is one of the world's biggest marathons and I am doing it with my best friend from high school. I have been running for a while though so the prep time for the race would not really undermine my LSAT prep. It's just that the marathon is the weekend after the test date so I would not want to be mentally crushed by the LSAT before a huge race. To literally answer your question though probably 15ish hours during later weeks including treatment for leg issues after runs. I would be way more motivated to study a lot the second time around though because I was starting to feel burnout my last term when I took the first test.

It's not even on the same day? Just take the test bro and then take a nap or something

What's the worst that happens if you're not at your absolute best at the marathon? Seems inconsequential compared to creating the best application possible to send to law schools.Mack.Hambleton wrote:It's not even on the same day? Just take the test bro and then take a nap or something

I'll answer both of your points with a slight rephrsaing: What's the worst that would happen if I was slightly tired for my trip up to Chicago? I might need to sleep a lot more that week. I was just remembering how mentally exhausted I was after the June exam, but after these points were raised I remembered that was also graduation week. I appreciate all of the advice and will almost certainly be retaking in 3 months.Hikkomorist wrote:What's the worst that happens if you're not at your absolute best at the marathon?
