3.95/166 T14 Hopeful
Hi - I am aiming for T14 schools but wondering about my chances since my LSAT score (166) lags behind the medians for these schools.
I've been working as a paralegal for 5 years (started at a small firm then moved to a major bank). I've been doing some volunteer activities, including some pro bono legal work. I'd be considered as an international student - I moved to the U.S. when I was 15 without my parents (this will be my diversity statement material). I already disclosed my race (Asian) to the LSAC (not sure if that was a good decision).
What are your thoughts on my chances at T14? I'd appreciate any insight you can share with me. Thanks!!

Definitely retake, but you could get a lower T14 with these numbers. It would be idiotic to attend, however.

Thanks, guys! I appreciate your advice, but I don't plan to retake the LSAT since I've already taken it twice (161 -> 166). I guess I'm gonna have to start praying for a miracle!
If you have any advice on how to play up my background, please let me know!

What if I told you T14 law schools would pay you perhaps $200,000 to study hard, retake, do well and then attend their school?AJ_NY wrote:Thanks, guys! You still have another attempt. You increased it 5 points last time; if you do that again then you would be in HYS territory with possible full rides from several T10 schools.AJ_NY wrote:Thanks, guys! Jesus, even 3 or 4 points on the LSAT would change your life. Work for a year, study, retake, apply early next year.

The best advice on how to play up your background is to score a 170+. If you aren't willing to put in the extra effort to retake the test and significantly enhance your future, you should strongly reconsider attending law school.AJ_NY wrote:Thanks, guys! This. Retaking is 3 months of annoyance. Law is a career of grinding life destroying bullshit. Prove you're worthy.p89sean16 wrote:The best advice on how to play up your background is to score a 170+. Yeah OP basically if you attend now, you'll be paying a lot of money. If you retake and get 170+, you'll be attending for close to free.
That's a $100-150k difference.
So imagine schools saying "look if you retake we'll give you at least $100k for free."
not to mention you have better shots at Harvard/etc.
ETA - How did you get a 3.95 with that kind of study ethic anyway. You literally got A's in every class except for like 2 B's ever.

A retake is the difference between you renting a tiny apartment & living cheap inorder to pay back your loans as fast as possible during your biglaw stint and balling out on your 160k with no debt and actually buying a condo instead of renting.

Re: 3.95/166 T14 Hopeful
Please retake.
You have a GPA that most people would kill for....but a somewhat weak LSAT, don't throw away the four hard years of work in UG.
People with much lower GPA's like mine ( 3.55 ) would have a much better chance at admissions with a 3.55/172 Split than 3.95/166
there is no reason why you can't raise it given your GPA....i would go for a 170 minimum

Re: 3.95/166 T14 Hopeful
another reverse-splitter here (166/3.94)
I am riding this cycle but getting increasingly nervous and feel like I should retake..
But what's holding me back is the doubt whether I can increase my LSAT score.
I studied pretty hard during the summer and took the september one.
Is it really possible to improve? Should I take a course?
I feel like I know the concepts but I just get so many problems wrong when I actually try to solve them

Define "hard"? If you don't retake, I hate you. I wouldn't take a course, there are a bunch of really good guides in the lsat prep sub-forum, use one that works for you.alphagirljhan wrote:another reverse-splitter here (166/3.94)
