Is HYS possible with a sub 3.0 gpa? Even with a 175+ LSAT?

I know someone (white, KJD) who claims he got a JS1 with about a 2.9/177 but I'm still not entirely certain he wasn't lying.

Re: Is HYS possible with a sub 3.0 gpa?
There are two kinds of people who could get in with a sub 3.0 GPA:
1. Someone with unbelievably extraordinary extracurriculars/recommenders/personal connections. It would probably have to be the #1 extracurricular/recommender/personal connection of the entire applicant pool that year, or maybe of the last few years. If you are in this category, you'd already know it and wouldn't need to ask.
2. Someone with extraordinary mitigating circumstances for their GPA. You would need to point to one or two specific semesters, and explain that you were literally in the hospital fighting an aggressive cancer-type disease during those semesters and consequently your grades completely tanked. Every other semester would need to have perfect or near perfect grades.
