I am a Male at an Ivy League uni studying finance. I was planning on applying ED to columbia with whatever score I got on the LSAT but I scored the highest that I scored on any of my PTs and was not really expecting to do as well on the actual as I did (September 2014 test). Now I am deciding whether I should apply ED to Columbia or take my chances on regular decision and also send a apps to Harvard/Standford/NYU. The issue is that I really want to go to Columbia, but I now have a decent chance at Harvard which is an even better school and one that I would also love to attend. My resume/softs are pretty good (few big name finance internships and g.m. of a local moving company) and I took a law class abroad in England at a top uni and scored a 1st (A+ equivalent).

So basically the question is whether I should
1. Follow my initial plan and apply ED to Columbia or
2. Apply regular decision to Columbia and send an app to Harvard and a few other schools

Congrats on that great LSAT score.

Don't ED. You are very competitive for Columbia as it is. And all ED'ing will do is close doors to possible scholarship. You should be able to get into NYU with $$ so it will be good having that option on the table. Moreover, you have a shot at H and S, albeit perhaps an unlikely one. Depending on your career goals, I would also consider applying to some of the lower T-14 for big $$$ opportunities. If your goal is NYC biglaw for instance, Cornell/Duke with $$$ > Columbia at sticker.

I would applying everywhere and also retake in December and see if you can't bump that sucker up a few points. Nice job exceeding expectations, you should have some sweet options
