pry retake
use mylsn.info though; you have presented yourself as a generic, non-splitting applicant so we can give you no better advice than that site

Hey,
1) no one says public ivy. you are 4.0/170 k-jd; the rest is fluff.
2) why Harvard & Stanford? they are very different schools; I'm curious why they are equally your top choice. Also, some other T14s will probably wind up being cheaper for you, unless you qualify for need based aid.
3) tough love: you probably won't get into HS or get a half scholarship from CCN. Your chances at admission at Columbia are pretty mixed since you're at the bottom 25% of LSATs. Chicago likes those high GPA's, but I don't think they'll throw around $30K/year for it. NYU could. I think it's still worth applying since you could be wait listed at several of these schools and then admitted get off in the late spring.
4) I don't understand your reasoning about not having time to take the LSAT again. While I think you should have a very rewarding cycle with lots of T14 scholarships applying right now, you said you "might be too busy because of school"?? Meaning college? You have strong grades from a good school. Apply for jobs and take the LSAT in the summer or fall again if you aren't satisfied with this cycle. K-JD is, and always would be, the weakest part of your application (and possibly the weakest part of your job hunt in law school).
good luck

Same stats, WL/reject at HS (didn't apply to Yale), no love from CCN (I think like 30k from NYU), but ended up with very solid money at a couple lower T14s. If you are dead set on HYS or CCN with a half scholly you should probably retake. I would have if not for good lower options.

Re: GPA: 4.0 LSAT 170 Chances at HYS?
I had similar stats and, thanks be to God, ended up at HLS.
Personally, I had a fiery passion to go right on to law school. But bear in mind that the majority of students at top schools did something between undergrad and law school.
Your numbers are competitive, and you come from a great school, so you might get in this cycle. I'd say you get at least an interview from HLS. But if you don't get into SLS or HLS this cycle, you can always work a great job for a year or two, perhaps retake, and then have a better shot later.
I'd recommend praying, staying focused, and taking negative advice from TLS'ers with a grain of salt.

he's right though. mylsn.info doesn't take prayer into account at all.

I have to echo this advice OP.LexLeon wrote:I'd recommend praying, staying focused, and taking negative advice from TLS'ers with a grain of salt.
You need to have faith that Almighty FSM will, with all His Noodly Grace, guide you on the path that He, your Lord and Savior -- Who boiled for YOUR sins -- has preordained. If He wanted you to retake, you already would have.
Absolutely ignore tls -- most posters are blasphemous heathens who have never been Graced by His Holy Noodly Appendage, and they are thus blind and will never walk side by side with His Holiness FMS for eternity and never enjoy Heavon's Blessed Beer Volcano and Stripper Factory. R'amen.

I'm actually curious, though: If there's something else that could've motivated Bagelboy's post, I'd be curious to know what it is.patogordo wrote:way to turn the other cheek

i love how of all the ironic vitriol hurled in this thread, the insecure evangelist goes after "oh man"
what motivated all of my two words was the general absurdity and hyperbolic language of your own post, the frankly bizarre and totally out of place theist verbiage which colored it, my anticipation for the ensuing ridicule by the general population, and against my better judgment, my raw pity for you and your "fiery passion." but no, no, contrive whatever erroneous and entirely unnecessary theory your pathetic paranoid narcissism requires, don't mind us.

Just wanted to quote you on that, for (once one reads the post) self-explanatory reasons.jbagelboy wrote:i love how of all the ironic vitriol hurled in this thread, the insecure evangelist goes after "oh man"

no one cares man. you can be religious, thats cool and all, but its laughably bad advise to tell people they should definitely apply and attend k-jd because of a "fiery passion" when that might not be the best call. it worked out for you and everyones happy for that but bringing your deity into it, come on.

Lex- What do you mean by a "fiery passion" to go to law school as a K-JD? Like how does that passion manifest itself and why is it better to listen to it than reason? Cuz God?

Re: GPA: 4.0 LSAT 170 Chances at HYS?
I got HLS and SLS with nearly identical stats (SLS off wait list). I had half schollys at NYU and Chicago, none at Columbia, and some full rides in the lower T14. I was also k-JD but with a stronger resume than what you describe.
Point being, there's definitely a chance, but if you are dead-set on HLS/SLS, a retake would not hurt.
(Also, agree with above poster than HLS and SLS are very different schools. Feel free to PM about SLS.)

Something like 2/3 of SLS and HLS do something between law school and UG. That remaining third of k-jd surely goes to 4.0/173+s. You'll only up your odds (and resume with decent work experience) by working, and perhaps retaking.
