female/178/first class
This site has helped me immeasurably in understanding the law school application process. Thank you all for the great and helpful output!
I need your help once again to choose the schools to which I am going to apply. I don't live in the US and I don't know anybody else applying to US law schools so I can't decide where I stand.
I graduated from a top 5 UK university with a degree in History. I got first class honors, the highest in the UK. My dissertation focused on issues close to legal history. I received low grades (55s, equivalent to C) in several courses during my degree that I can explain in an addendum. Because the low grades were few, I still managed to receive highest honors.
I got 178 on the LSAT.
Broadly speaking, I am interested in public interest law. In my personal statement I will probably focus on this interest and its origin from my background growing up in a low-income household in a developing country.
ECs wise, I have started a social enterprise in my own community and I have had a summer job and an internship in my country's equivalent to the White House and Congress. Now I work in an international organization, doing something in the area of election rights. I have had some other paid jobs but nothing spectacular.
I will not be able to discuss why I am applying to US law school in the application as the reason is personal. I am not sure to what extent that would hurt my chances.
Where do you think I should apply?
Please do not quote the post as I feel I have revealed too much about myself and I might need to edit later.
Thank you for reading all this. Any comments will be useful.

Is this the only question? If so, standard TLS advice of "apply to entire t14" applies. Go where they give you $. You look like a strong candidate from Yale down, if that's what you're looking for.bobidjo wrote:This site has helped me immeasurably in understanding the law school application process. Because I don't have a GPA, I estimated that it will be a great loss of money to apply to any school ranked above UCLA. But yours and smccgrey's posts sound very encouraging. Thank you and all the best to you too!toothbrush wrote: Is this the only question? If so, standard TLS advice of "apply to entire t14" applies. Go where they give you $.
