3.1/174

Post by lawschoolhopeful9 » Mon Jul 28, 2014 4:07 am

Hi everyone!

So I just graduated with a BBA in finance from a public school in Texas. I managed to graduate with a 3.7 gpa but with the adjustments, it's a 3.1. I prepped for the LSAT consistently for over a year and was able to pull off a 174 with my first attempt. As you can see, my gpa stinks. I don't expect to get into any of the T6, but where can I realistically apply to? Scholarships? Any thoughts on trying to boost my score? I do have work experience throughout college, it took me longer than the normal "4 years" to graduate. I wasn't involved in any thing else really. I am not a URM. Any tips/suggestions would be highly appreciated!

How did your gpa go from a graduating 3.7 to an LSAC 3.1?

My best suggestion is to apply early and to blanket the T14. Don't rule out anything, even the T6. NYU is spitter-friendly. Definitely apply to Cornell as well. They did odd things last cycle regarding splitters and $$$.

My gpa is a little bit higher, but I'll pm you my LSN profile.

Get your apps in as soon as they open. I'll let someone else speak to the retake.

Def. do not retake. That LSAT score is golden and I don't think a 176 or 178 and a 3.1 will be too different than a 174 and a 3.1 I would hit NYU for sure, as well as Northwestern, Cornell and GULC. Even if T14 doesn't bite, I would say you're likely to be accepted at Vandy, WUSTL, GW and Emory. But like an above poster said, that doesn't mean the rest of the T14 is out of the question- send out your apps everywhere below HYS, write the personalized Why X essays and answer the supplementals. Good luck!

I went from a gpa of 3.7 to 3.1 because of transferring schools.

Thank you everyone!
