T10 university, 3.8GPA, 169 LSAT

Post by hopefullawyer14 » Sun Jul 27, 2014 7:50 pm

Majoring in Computer Science and Cultural Anthropology. What are my chances at T14 schools? I know the LSAT is a little low, but hoping GPA from my school and major should have an impact. Thoughts? Should I retake? Thanks for your help!

We are numbers twins. I would say you have a shot at NYU and down (that's where I'll be applying this fall). You will be a strong candidate at the lower t14, possibly a little money in there somewhere. If you dip below t14, money will be significant.

If you were averaging above 169 on your practice, or did not study much for your LSAT, then definitely worth a retake. There is almost always more to be gained than lost on a retake.

The UG you go to likely has no impact on law school admission.

What you majored in is even less significant.

Great GPA and LSAT score tho.

Apply early. Apply across the T-20. Good luck!

If you majored in CS, will you qualify for IP/do you want to do IP? If so, you're in good shape with a lower T14 + lots of money.

I will be applying early in the cycle. It is supposed to give slight boost. Aiming to be done before October. I will also be writing any optional essays at my borderline schools.

Definitely retake. Your UG won't matter, and getting just a few extra points could save you from as much as six figures of high-interest debt.

Always retake if you think you can do better.

Your chances are good. Apply broadly for bargaining power on scholarship money.

Also a CS with a good GPA like yours can often make good money right after UG. Might be worth considering...
