Foreign Degree, U.S. Citizen Forum

Hi there everyone,

I have skimmed through the forum on the subject of how foreign degrees / GPAs are evaluated and have found mixed answers, so I thought I would share my stats here and ask for some honest feedback.

I am a dual U.S. / U.K. citizen, studying political science at the University of Zurich in Switzerland (German speaking).

GPA: Around 3.5 right now, although here averages are key and I am not too far off graduating Summa Cum Laude (still a year to go).

I have been in many student clubs, foundend one, and was president of the student body for a year. I speak English, German and French.

Not yet taken the LSAT yet, but have been taking trial runs and have been getting good results. Lets say I get a 174. Lets also assume I have a very valid reason for wanting to study law in the U.S. and I can get good reccommendations.

So here is the question: What can I aim for?

Take the LSAT first, but assuming you can get 170+, definitely looking at T14. 173+/3.5 should be getting CCN and lower T14 with good money.

What is it you want to do with a US law degree?

Thanks for the advice. I am currently specializing in international relations in my degree, so I would like to get a J.D. that focuses alot, but not exclusively, on international law. Working in the private sector and practicing for a few years before joining a governmental organisation or the U.N. is the ultimate goal since I already have alot of political and IR experience. I'd like to believe I have some really strong softs that emphasize this goal. Columbia is where I am currently looking.
