3.2 170+
I haven't taken the LSAT yet I plan on taking it in October. I live in NY and would really love to go to NYU or Columbia. With a safety school of Fordham...I know to get into CLS or NLS I need above 170 on my LSAT but how high would I need to score to have a good chance of being admitted to once of those schools. Essentially what should I be shooting for LSAT score wise. Thanks!

Realistically, shoot for as close to 180 as you can get

Yeah. I mean it's a little silly to think about that before hand. Do as well as you can, then look at your options. Then retake, do as well as you can, look at your options again. A 3.2 will present a real problem for Columbia, even with a great LSAT. But your admission will also depend on other factors (URM, STEM undergrad degree from good school to explain the GPA, etc).
On mylsn.info, a 170-175 score w/ a 3.2 show zero admits at CLS & NYU. 175+ show a slight chance. You'd be looking at money from Fordham though. Good money with above a 172ish. Dunno what their scholarships are. Dink around on lawschoolnumbers.com to get a better picture.
Basically, NYU and CLS (to a lesser degree) are definitely possibilities with agreatphenomenal score, but they may not make the most sense even if you get in. Eg. Cornell places well in NYC and you could get much more scholarship from there. Etc. Etc.

Thank you. Yeah I'm probably getting too far ahead of myself at this point. No UMR or prestigious undergrad to explain my GPA, which is why I'm planning on giving myself 6 months to really prepare fully for the LSAT. Is the October LSAT early enough in the admission cycle? I figure with my low GPA the earlier I get my applications in the better my chances will be.yossarian71 wrote:Yeah. I mean it's a little silly to think about that before hand. Yes it's early enough but seriously, take the test first. It's kinda premature to even consider Fordham a safety school when you don't even have a score yet.Ayers wrote:Thank you.
